This post is a little late due to the fact that we have a newborn running our lives now, but here’s how it all went down…

Friday March 20th:
I was having contractions all day. I went to my mom’s house and she took me to Provo canyon to do some walking. We walked the trail for about a mile and half and then I headed back home with nothing but achy feet and irregular contractions. I was so miserable that whole day I told Jordan we had to get our stuff ready for the hospital and get out of the house. I was not going to spend one more night pregnant in our uncomfortable bed. So, we took our stuff and went to Tessa and Preston’s house to hang out. Tessa made us dinner and Preston and Jordan worked on fixing a dishwasher. Around 10pm my contractions became more regular so Tessa decided to start timing them. They were 3-5 minutes apart and lasting over a minute. That meant hospital time for me. I told Jordan it was time to go, he thought I was just faking it but he took me anyways.

Saturday March 21st (My Due Date) 12:00 AM:
By the time I got to the hospital parking lot I had a nervous breakdown and decided I didn’t really want to do this anymore. I begged Jordan to just take me home, but he knew what was best and dragged me out of the car and up to labor and delivery. They checked me and I was 3.5 centimeters dilated. They said I had to dilate at least a centimeter an hour to be in active labor. After the first hour there, nothing had changed, so the nurse had me walk around and hang out for another hour. She checked me again and I was a 4.5, it was go time!

2:30 AM:
The nurse took me to my labor and delivery room and told me I would be getting my IV and Epidural right away. This was the part I had been terrified of. I was shaking and freaking out. Jordan was so great and did his best to keep me calm. The IV was the worst of it. My epidural was heaven sent and once it was in I was able to relax and sleep the rest of the night. My mom came, and the three of us played the waiting game.

4:30 AM:
Dilated to a 6

6:30 AM:
Dilated to a 7

8:30 AM:
Dilated to an 8.5, and Tessa arrived to help out.

10:00 AM:
Dilated to a 9.5

11:00 AM:
Dilated to a 10! The nurse was waiting for the doctor to arrive, but had me start pushing anyways. Jordan and Tessa each grabbed a leg and my mom waited with the camera. I pushed for 30 min. till the doctor got there. A few more pushes later and Doctor Jones pulled our baby girl out.

11:48 AM:
Payden was born. The moment was perfect and one of the best days of my entire life. Jordan and I felt so blessed to have this perfect little spirit in our arms. She didn’t even cry until the cleaning began. She was so alert and spent the whole rest of the day awake and looking around. We had many wonderful visitors over the next couple days. Thanks to all of our friends and family who have brought gifts, meals and shown their love and support, it has meant so much!
